X Launches Audio and Video Calling Feature for Android Users, Exclusive to Premium Subscribers

After launching for iOS users in October 2023, now X (formerly Twitter) is launching an audio and video calling feature for Android users.

X CEO Linda Yaccarion first announced this feature last August, this is part of Elon Musk’s plan as the owner of X who wants to make his platform an ‘everything’ application.

Of course, the perks that come with their grand plan, including making audio and video calls, are only available to premium subscribers.

However, all users can receive calls except making calls. Meanwhile, Twitter premium customers are charged a subscription rate of USD 8 per month or USD 84 per year.

This feature also exists on other platforms such as WhatsApp, Zoom, Telegram, Teams and others. So for those of you who feel you don’t need to use this feature on X, you can easily deactivate it. By going to settings and clicking on privacy and security, then direct message.

There, you will see an option that says enable audio and video calls, which you can make sure is turned off. Or, you can control who can call you on X.

Restrictions include people in a user’s address book, verified users, and people they follow. These restrictions can help to avoid unwanted calls.
