Mr. Tagarev was not authorized during his visit to the USA to make decisions on the deployment of missile systems. How did you come up with such thoughts in Washington? He makes commitments without a mandate. You talk about the Gulf of Aden, about Ukraine – and you are the Minister of Defense. This was stated by Rumen Gechev from BSP in the program “Panorama” on BNT.
According to him, the Bulgarian aviation was destroyed, the Bulgarian navy and land forces were on their knees. “We have signed a contract with NATO and we must fulfill our commitments. We should not play the role of a bridgehead and participate in military operations on various islands”, he stressed.
Gechev did not hide his indignation at the actions of the Minister of Defense, who signed the first fighter intended for Bulgaria. He admitted that the BSP did not trust Minister Tagarev.
“Any minister can go anywhere if there are positive consequences afterwards. The visit of Minister Todor Tagarev to the USA puts our country at risk”, Rumen Gechev is categorical.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the delayed order of the American F-16 fighter jets ordered and paid for by our country. “We had estimates. Don’t lie about a delay due to COVID. The fighters should already be here and flying. Our planes are running out of time. The Pentagon lied to the Bulgarian state and its partners and sent us to unknown places,” he said.
“BSP criticizes whenever Bulgarian interests are affected. We also offer specific solutions. We have voted the military budget and additional expenses for the Bulgarian Army. We have not voted for anti-missile and anti-ship systems on the Bulgarian coast. We don’t want to give the money, but we don’t want the planes to come,” said Gechev.
According to the BSP representative, the Minister of Defense is working against the Bulgarian national interest.
