Transdev in Beloeil: a new employment contract that could inspire others
January 19, 2024
The president of the union (CUPE 5232) of Transdev drivers, which ensures the mobility of the population in the Beloeil region, announces the signing of a new collective agreement.
“We managed to find common ground that satisfied both parties. We are all aware that public transportation represents the future of land transportation. We are convinced that this collective agreement will serve as a model for other employment contracts in the private land transportation sector,” concluded Jocelyn Bourdon, CUPE union advisor.
“We signed this seven-year contract on January 17. We are satisfied with the negotiations because we negotiated a significant salary catch-up and we succeeded in protecting the purchasing power of workers for the duration of the collective agreement, i.e. from 2023 to 2029,” explain the president of CUPE 5232, Normand Darsigny.
Among the gains, note the implementation of a salary scale which goes from five to three years with an increase of more than 17% for the second year. Guaranteed working hours are 36 for all employees. The employment contract now includes a retirement plan and union members see their leave improved, whether unpaid, social or vacation.
