A Boeing 747-8 transport plane from Atlas Air had to make an emergency landing on Thursday evening after engine failure. The plane was seen in flames in the night sky over Miami, USA, write NBC News and Sky News.
Several videos and photos of the plane are shared on X, formerly Twitter, and other social media.
A source familiar with the investigation told NBC News on Friday that the preliminary examination of the engine of the Atlas Air revealed “a hole across the engine the size of a softball”.
Already under investigation
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is already investigating Boeing after an Alaska Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing when a window and parts of the fuselage fell off in mid-air this month.
