Manchester City striker Norwegian Erling Haaland received the Globe Soccer Awards as the best footballer of 2023.
Other contenders for the award were Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nasr), Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva (both Manchester City), Kylian Mbappe ( PSG), Karim Benzema (Al-Ittihad), Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior (both Real Madrid), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).
The best team of 2023 was Manchester City; the award for the best coach of the year was given to the team’s head coach Pep Guardiola. The prize for the best goalkeeper of the year was awarded to Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
38-year-old Ronaldo received three awards at once: “Best Player in the Middle East”, the Diego Maradona Trophy as the best scorer of 2023, as well as the “Best Player According to Fans” award.
The Globe Soccer Awards were launched by the European Club Association and the European Association of Football Agents in 2009.
