On Friday, the parties are debating in court in St. Petersburg.
The prosecution believes that Trepova knew that the statuette she handed to Tatarsky contained a bomb and therefore deliberately wanted to carry out a terrorist attack. Trepova herself denies that she knew about the bomb. Trepova is also charged with illegal purchase and possession of a weapon.
Dmitry Kasintsev, who let Trepov into his apartment after the explosion, is being tried together with him for concealment. The prosecutor is asking for one year and ten months in prison.
Last year, on April 2, Tatarski lost his life in an explosion in St. Petersburg in the “Street Food Bar No. 1” cafe owned by the founder of the “Wagner” mercenary group Yevhenii Prigozhin, when his “creative evening” was held there. 32 people were injured.
The explosion was caused by a homemade bomb hidden in a statuette given to Tatarsky.
According to the version of the investigators, Trepova was in a group organized from the territory of Ukraine.
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) previously claimed that one of the organizers of the explosion was Ukrainian citizen Yuriy Denisov.
There have also been claims that Roman Popkov, a journalist living in Ukraine and the former leader of the Moscow branch of the National Bolshevik Party, played a role in the organization of the explosion. Trepova herself claims that she met Tatarsky at the instigation of Popkov.
Handing over the statuette was part of the task for which she was promised a job as a journalist in Ukraine. She did not know that there was a bomb in the statuette. In court, Trepova confirmed that she regrets what happened.
