Santiago: Chile and Mexico have asked the International Court of Justice for a detailed investigation into Israel’s continued occupation and genocide in Gaza. The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the ICJ is the real forum that can bring out the criminal background of the occupying Israeli state. In the statement, Mexico pointed to the United Nations reports regarding the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza.
At the same time, Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren told the media that the Chilean government will not back down in supporting investigations into any war crimes that violate international law. He said that the importance should not be given to the country and time where the war crime is being committed and the peace and security of the people should be given more priority.
