TASS, January 19. Washington defeated St. Louis with a score of 5:2 in a home match of the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
TJ Oshie (11th, 31st, 60th minutes), Nicolas Aube-Kubel (24) and Dylan Strome (41) scored goals for Washington. Nathan Walker (18, 45) scored for the losers. Russian forwards Alexander Ovechkin (Washington) and Nikita Alexandrov (St. Louis) scored assists. Alexandrov scored his first point this NHL season; the game against Washington was his 11th in the regular season.
Ovechkin scored points in the seventh match in a row in which he took part. Prior to this, the Russian missed three games due to a lower body injury. Ovechkin ranks second on the list of Washington’s top scorers this season, with 28 points (8 goals + 20 assists) in 40 games. The forward is in second position on the list of the best snipers in the history of the NHL regular championships, scoring 830 goals. He is second only to Canadian forward Wayne Gretzky (894).
Washington is fourth in the Metropolitan Division standings with 50 points in 43 games. St. Louis is sixth in the Central Division with 44 points after 43 games.
