ABU DHABI: Ahead of the start of the new academic year, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adec) has clarified the procedures and guidelines related to private school admissions. The aim is to inform parents about entrance exams, list of schools, tuition fees and curricula.
Parents are allowed to visit the school prior to registration. Current students can be re-registered for the next academic year if parents are interested. School authorities are obliged to provide access and appropriate support to students with health problems such as diabetes, asthma and epilepsy.
KG No tests or interviews are required for admission to the classes. But interview can be conducted for admission of students from 1st to 12th class. This will help the teachers to provide proper learning support to the children and understand their performance level.
Registration in private schools requires a registration form including parents’ phone numbers, student’s name, date and place of birth, nationality and address, Emirates ID, vaccination card, academic reports of previous years and any additional documents required by the school.
Private schools in Abu Dhabi follow 14 curricula including UAE-MOE, Indian, British and American. For details on over 200 private schools in the emirate, visit www.tamm.abudhabi/wb/get-education/schools.
