Seasonal influenza viruses, coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and other respiratory viruses are currently circulating in parallel in Belarus. This was reported by the press service Ministry of Health.
A seasonal increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI), including influenza, is observed annually in Belarus from October to April. Now the intensity of the ARI epidemiological process is assessed as average with a tendency to increase in all regions of the republic. Children under 18 years of age account for more than 50% of all cases.
According to the results of laboratory studies, influenza viruses A (H1N1), A (H3N2), A (atypical), B and non-influenza respiratory viruses (parainfluenza viruses, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, RS viruses, seasonal coronaviruses, bocaviruses, SARS virus) are now circulating -CoV-2), which poses a risk of pathogen spread and the emergence of disease cases, including local outbreaks.
As for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, according to available data, the Pirol variant is not widely used. The predominant circulation of two recombinant forms of the virus continues – HBV.1.16 “Arcturus” and EG.5.1.1 “Eris”.
