Journalist Igor Yakovenko’s Unexpected Theory on Potential End of the War in Ukraine

Journalist Igor Yakovenko voiced an unexpected assumption about how the war in Ukraine could end.

Even before the complete liberation of all occupied territories, a victory for Ukraine may occur, Igor Yakovenko suggested. A Russian journalist explained why he thinks so, describing events where Russians might see the light and go against Putin.

The sociologist outlined a situation in which a victory for Ukraine is possible without going to the 1991 borders: “I think it is quite possible that Ukraine’s victory will not happen after the entire territory of Ukraine is cleared up to the 1991 borders. It is quite possible that this could happen earlier, for example, due to the fact that as a result of the de-occupation of Crimea, the internal breakdown of the Russian state machine will occur.”.

After this, the journalist predicted events that would dramatically change the course of the war: “The story here is very simple: it all began with Crimea, and everything can and will end with Crimea. Crimea is such a “Koshcheev’s needle” of Putin’s empire.
There is simply an understanding that when the de-occupation of Crimea happens, it will be a very strong shock for those people who are now at the front, and those people who support them, because there will be an understanding that Putin is, as they say, , “the king is not real” and it’s time for the army to rebel.”

“This is where there may be a coincidence of this understanding on the one hand, and on the other hand there may be a demand for the feeling that we need to move not to the West against Ukraine, but to the East against Putin“, summarized Igor Yakovenko.
