Carlos Alcaraz (No. 2 in the ATP world ranking) He reached the impressive figure of 200 matches played at the ATP level when he was only 20 years old. The Spaniard, originally from Murcia, reached this number after having played his match against Lorenzo Sonego in the second round of the 2024 Australian Open, which placed him in the third place. Faced with this situation we ask ourselves: How had the Big 3 fared when they reached that same number?

For a start, Roger Federer was the first to reach that number in 2002. At just 21 years old, the Swiss had 124 wins, 76 losses and just two titles: Milan and Sydney. Furthermore, he had not yet been in the Top 10 since at that time he appeared in the Top 15. At the Grand Slam level, his best results had come at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, with consecutive quarterfinals in 2001.

As for Novak Djokovic, the Serbian achieved it in mid-2008, also being an Under-21 player. The Belgrade-born and current number one in the world ranking reached 200 ATP matches with 144 wins, 56 losses and nine trophies, including one Grand Slam. That same year, Nole premiered its showcase of majors with the Australian Open, which added to the titles obtained in Amersfoort, Metz, Adelaide, Miami, Estoril, Canada and Vienna. As for the ranking, he had already fully inserted himself into the Top 3 along with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Moving on to Manacorí, he is the one who obtained the most trophies (in general) compared to his two greatest rivals. At just 20 years old, the former world number one reached 200 ATP matches with 158 wins, 42 losses and 16 titles. Of those cups, the most notable was the first of his 14 Roland Garros, which he won in 2005. In addition, he had already won in Sopot, Costa do Sauipe, Acapulco, Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, Rome, Bastad, Stuttgart, Canada, Beijing, Madrid and Dubai, with some being achieved in duplicate. And at the ranking level, he reached the No. 2 position, only surpassed by Federer.
Finally, there is the case of Carlos Alcaraz, who broke out as a professional in the 2020 season. In just four years, the current number two on the planet achieved 157 wins and 43 losses and won 12 titles. The particularity in this comparison is that, in 200 matches, he won more Grand Slam tournaments than Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. The 20-year-old from Murcia has already won the US Open and Wimbledon, in addition to 10 other trophies: Umag, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Barcelona x2, Madrid x2, Buenos Aires, Indian Wells and Queen’s. It should also be noted that he was the only one in this group who, in that period of matches played, reached number one in the world ranking.
