Ayodhya The grand ceremony of consecration of Ramlala has started in the Ram temple. Different rituals will be organized every day till Pran Pratishtha. Before the start of the ceremony, many gifts came for Ramlala from India and abroad. In this sequence, gifts also came from Lord Ram’s in-laws house Janakpuri. But, do you know that King Janak had not even sent the invitation for Sita Swayamvar to Ayodhya. What was the reason for not sending the invitation to Ayodhya? If the invitation was not sent then how did Lord Ram reach Janakpuri and participate in Sita’s swayamvara?
The reason for not sending the invitation to Sita Swayamvar to Ayodhya was King Janak’s great fear. It is mentioned in mythological stories. According to mythology, a person got married in Janakpuri. He was going to his in-laws’ house for the first time. He found a swamp at a place on the way to his in-laws’ house. A cow was stuck in the swamp, which was almost about to die. He thought that the cow was going to die and his clothes would get ruined if he got into the mud. At the same time, he could also get stuck in the swamp. So he stepped on the cow and moved ahead. As soon as he crossed the swamp, the cow died and cursed the man that you will not be able to see the person for whom you are leaving me to die. If he sees him he will die.
Husband lost his eyesight
After reaching his in-laws’ house, the man turned his back towards the house and sat outside the door. Despite all the efforts of his in-laws, he did not go inside. On this his wife came out of the house and asked him to go inside, but the man did not look at her due to fear of curse. When the wife asked the reason for this, she told about the curse of the cow. Then the wife said that I am a devoted woman. You look at me, nothing will happen to me. Then as soon as the man looked at his wife, he lost his eyesight.
Shri Ram picked up the bow of Shiva and strung it with such speed and the bow broke that no one could understand anything.
Scholars told the solution to the problem
The woman went to the court of King Janak with her blind husband. He told the whole thing to King Janak. Then King Janak called all the scholars of the kingdom and told them the problem and asked for a solution to get rid of the curse of cow. After discussing among themselves, all the scholars said that if any other devoted woman, other than the man’s wife, brings Ganga water in a sieve and sprinkles it on his eyes, then he will be freed from the curse of cow. When King Dasharatha of Ayodhya got this information, he asked all his queens. On this, all the queens said that if you ask any woman of the kingdom, let alone the royal palace, she will also get loyalty to her husband. King Dashrath called a cleaning lady. When asked, the woman said that she is a devoted woman.

Cleaning lady fixed his eyes
Maharaj Dasharatha sent the same woman to Janakpuri to show all the kings including King Janak that his kingdom was the best. King Janak also respected that woman a lot. The woman who came from Ayodhya went to the banks of Ganga with a sieve and prayed that O Mother Ganga, if I am completely devoted to my husband, then not even a drop of Ganga water should fall down. After praying, she completely filled the sieve with Ganga water and reached the royal court. When the woman sprinkled water on the man’s eyes, his vision returned. King Janak gave him royal respect and sent him off to Ayodhya.

What was King Janak afraid of?
At the time of Sita Swayamvar, when King Janak noticed the cleaning lady, he thought how powerful would be the husband of such a devoted lady. If King Dashrath sent any gatekeeper or soldier to the Swayamvara in this manner, he would easily pick up the bow. In such a situation, the princess will marry a soldier or a gatekeeper instead of a prince. Due to this fear, King Janak did not send the invitation for Sita Swayamvar to Ayodhya.
Ram and Lakshman along with their Guru Vishwamitra had reached Janakpuri in Sita Swayamvar.
How did Lord Ram reach Janakpuri?
Prince Sita of Ayodhya was living with Guru Vishwamitra at the time of Swayamvara. King Janak requested Guru Vishwamitra to attend the program and bless him. On this he reached Janakpuri with Ram and Lakshman. Then when Lord Ram picked up the bow and offered it to Shiva, it broke. It is written in Ramcharit Manas, ‘Let, offer, draw, draw. Sabu, see why it is not written. Tehi Chhan Ram Madhya Dhanu Tora. Bhare Bhuvan Dhuni, extreme harshness.’ This means that no one knew when Shri Ram picked up the bow in the assembly, when he offered it and when he pulled it and broke it. He fulfilled the condition of Sita Swayamvar. Then King Janak sent an invitation to Maharaj Dasharatha for the marriage of Ram and Sita. On the arrival of King Dasharatha, Ram and Sita got married as per the rituals.
