Eurosonic Noorderslag or ESNS, founded in 1986, is noted as one of the most important music industry events in Europe, playing a major role in the growth of artists’ careers. ESNS traditionally offers a platform for introducing new European music projects throughout Europe and beyond. The festival includes a live music showcase section as well as a wide range of conferences and panel discussions, which are an essential part of the festival.
Music Latvia has been part of the ESNS initiative ESNS Exchange since last year. ESNS Exchange promotes the opportunity for European music groups and artists to perform live at festivals outside their home countries and provides wide media attention to these artists in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), music export offices and local media.
Agnese Cimuška-Rekke, Music Latvia CEO: “Music Latvia participation in the ESNS Exchange program opens the door to the Latvian music industry more widely. It gives our artists and industry professionals unparalleled experience and visibility in the European music market. This program is a platform where we can not only show the diversity of Latvian music, but also promote international cooperation by exchanging ideas and experiences. I am sure that our participation in this initiative will open up new opportunities and promote the international recognition of our artists.”
within the ESNS Exchange program Music Latvia also provided for two young members of the Latvian music industry – Emīlija Paula Anderson (M/Workshop) and Kristiana Paegle (Dirty Loops) – free to visit Eurosonic Noorderslag conference.
This year, only one artist from Latvia will participate in the ESNS festival – Might Delete Later. This project is created using a unique concept: making music from voicemails. Since the project began in an Amsterdam art gallery, Might Delete Later has gained recognition both online and off.
Agnese Cimuška-Rekke is attending the conference as a delegate from Latvia (Music Latvia), Guna Zučika (Every Little Thing/Carnival Youth), Christine Klein (Every Little Thing/Carnival Youth), Bruno Rose (I LOVE YOU records)Anastasia Konkina (Creative Europe)Timur.
