The ministry reports that the airstrike was aimed at terrorist targets in Iran.
– I can confirm that we have carried out targeted attacks against anti-Pakistani militant groups in Iran, says the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in a press release.
The New York Times is informed by a high-ranking Pakistani official that the country has attacked at least seven camps used by Baluchi separatists around five miles inside the border.
Baluchis are a people group who live in the border areas between Pakistan, Iran and southern Afghanistan.
The attack is said to have taken place in Saravan, not too far from the Pakistani border.
In the same message from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, they say that they felt compelled to attack the targets in order to prevent a nearby attack from these militant groups.
The semi-official YJC news agency reports that three women and four children, none of them Iranian, have been killed in explosions.
Iran also reports explosions
The Iranian news agency IRNA also confirms that repeated explosions have been heard in Saravan in the Sistan-Balutjustan province in southeastern Iran.
Iranian authorities report that repeated rockets have hit the border town.
Experts see Pakistan’s attack on Iran as a spread of the Gaza conflict. It is a tense situation, according to correspondent Yama Wolasmal.
The attacks on Thursday come after airstrikes carried out by Iran inside Pakistan, near the border with Iran, where two children were killed on Tuesday.
The attack is said to have been aimed at a group that is defined as a terrorist organization in Iran, and that has links to Israel.
According to the Iranian authorities themselves, they should have attacked targets associated with the separatist group Jaish ul-Adl, which works for Baloch independence.
The authorities in Islamabad then condemned the attack, saying it was a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

Rigid fronts between the countries
The relationship between Pakistan and Iran has been inflamed in recent weeks. On Wednesday, Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Tehran after condemning Tuesday’s attack.
Pakistani authorities have also prevented Iran’s envoy to Islamabad – who is traveling – from returning to Pakistan.
Iran has recently carried out several attacks on targets in neighboring countries.
On Monday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards attacked what they call an “espionage center” and “anti-Iranian terrorist groups” in the Kurdish city of Erbil in neighboring Iraq.
Iraq warns that it will complain about Iran to the UN Security Council after the attack.
At least four people were killed and six injured in the attack, according to the Kurdish authorities.

– We have the right to respond
Pakistani authorities assured the Iranians that they may respond to Tuesday’s Iranian attack inside Pakistan.
– Pakistan reserves the right to respond to this illegal act, and the responsibility for the consequences will lie entirely with Iran. We have conveyed this message to the government of Iran, said Zohra Baloch spokesperson in the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in a press conference on Wednesday.
There, the spokesperson said that they had also informed Iran that Pakistan has decided to recall its ambassador from the country and that the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, who is currently visiting Iran, may not return for the time being.
– We have also decided to suspend all high-level visits that were taking place or were planned between Pakistan and Iran in the coming days, she said according to Reuters.
