The controversial episode of Wife Swap aroused a lot of emotions in the audience. The participants now recalled the filming and revealed what had changed at home. Vera and Martin got married, but almost everything in the household is the same.
For both couples, the Wife Swap was an interesting life experience. “I remember the Exchange in a good way. It taught me one thing, that people smoke in the toilet, that must be bad. At home, things have changed that we got married and otherwise we live happily as before,” said Věra.
Even though there were communication problems in their relationship, the couple is said to be happy now. “There is a period when Věra is hurt and there is a period when she is normal. God forbid, the latter prevails,” Martin pointed out, and Věra just laughed at that.
According to Nikol and Jirka, the family was not quite right. “I’m afraid that alcohol plays a big role there. She drinks more than she should. She fulfills some responsibilities towards the children, some part-time job, then goes to the pub. That’s the only thing she’s interested in,” says Nikol.
”At our place, she also liked to drink. We also have a glass of wine in the evening, but she drank four or five beers every day. Well, for a woman, I don’t know. After lunch, instead of coffee, she preferred beer and from then on she drank until the evening. That’s the only thing she cares about,” Jirko didn’t like.
Vérce is said to have managed to cut down on drinking after the Exchange. “Yes, great. Now I don’t go anywhere during the winter, I only have coffee, tea or juice at home. Nothing else,” claims Věra. Nikol also did not like the fact that there was no dining table in the substitute household. “I would like a table, but we are so cramped here that there is nowhere to put it. I would rather have the animal instead of a table, now we only have an agama and a snake,” Věra added.
According to Nikol, the children were also neglected. “They say Věra doesn’t have time to go to speech therapy with Eliška. They didn’t even want to read to the children, I don’t understand,” she described. However, Věra stands by the fact that Eliška speaks perfectly and does not need speech therapy. “We don’t have to read to her. I have no problem with her saying a word to me. Everyone tells me that I should go somewhere with her, but I won’t go anywhere with her,” claims Věra.
Not much has changed for Jirka and Nikol after the Exchange. “We are happy for what we have and what we have managed. I don’t think we have spoiled children. They normally have no problem being with anyone else, except for people they don’t like. We know very well that we don’t want to live without each other. It suits us that,” they concluded.
