Frankfurt Airport cancels many flights due to expected snow storm

Frankfurt Airport reports that many flights are likely to be canceled in the coming days, and delays for those that do take place will be severe due to expected heavy snowfall and icing, DPA reported.

Tomorrow and Thursday, traffic at the airport will be severely limited, according to the airport operator “Fraport”. 1,030 flights are scheduled for tomorrow at the airport, but companies may cancel some of them due to the expected bad weather conditions. “Security is the top priority of air traffic,” Fraport points out.

During heavy snowfall, it is difficult to keep the runway clean and the planes un-iced, the company explains.

The airport in Frankfurt is one of the busiest in Europe, DPA recalls.
