Lippe district. Curtain up and film down for the “SchulKinoWochen NRW 2024”. The state’s film education project offers an extensive program tailored to school lessons. Under the motto “Live TOGETHER. see. learn.” From Thursday, January 25th to Wednesday, February 7th, the cinema halls of more than 120 cinemas will become classrooms. The cinemas in Bad Salzuflen, Lage and Lemgo are taking part.
“The ‘School Cinema Weeks’ make it possible to experience the cinema as an extracurricular cultural and learning venue,” writes the regional association’s project office. The film selection offers thematic links to the subject lessons and enables the basics of film language to be taught. There is teaching material for download for each film. A particular focus is on social issues. In parallel to the regular film program, there are several special programs.
The Science Year 2024 is about “freedom”. The “School Cinema Weeks” dedicate a special program “17 Goals – Cinema for a Better World” to this topic with films for all ages from primary school to high school. It’s about a good life for all people in a sustainable, just world. In addition, there are discussions with filmmakers and experts on the Science Year as well as cinema seminars and further training for teachers on film analysis in class.
Schools can still register. The reduced admission price for the cinema screenings is 4.50 euros; teachers and accompanying persons have free entry.
