Meanwhile, brothers Ivars and Andris Velmes reveal that the dream of “Audi S1E2” began in childhood, when their father participated in competitions as a driver. “As children, watching VHS tapes and playing computer games, we fell in love with 1980s rally and the legendary “Group B”, known as the classification for the most powerful and fastest racing cars. At the age of 16, my brother and I started training ourselves, driving skids with a car and waiting for the moment when we would get our driver’s license, keeping in mind the dream of being able to drive an “Audi S1E2″ ourselves,” said Andris Velme, admitting that the “Audi S1E2” is a rally car the most recognizable car of the “golden age”.
For about 10 years, Ivars and Andris participated individually in rally competitions. After that, joining forces in the rally, Ivars became the pilot of the car, and Andris – the helmsman. Having jointly purchased the former sports car “Audi 80” of Raimonds Strokš and Elvis Hermanis, after two rally seasons, the brothers decided to transfer its technical part to the “Audi Quattro A2”. This is how this car and the crew gained wide recognition and a group of fans in Latvia and the Baltics.
An important turning point took place in 2018 and 2019, when the Velmes brothers participated in the “Rallylegend” competition held in San Marino, gaining wide recognition and a circle of fans in Europe as well. In 2019, after Velmju’s participation in “Rallylegend”, an offer was made to sell “Audi Quattro A2”. Then work on “Audi S1E2” began, realizing the dream of both brothers.
Andris Velme continues: “Over the years, developing my skills and focusing on my favorite hobby – car restoration and rebuilding, today we have the opportunity to show people that it is possible to fulfill dreams by working hard on them. It is also a great satisfaction that “Moller Auto ” has been not only my workplace for years, but also a company with which we can show the “Audi S1E2″ to a wider circle of people. Car restoration and conversion has become part of our lifestyle, and in the future we will continue to promote both motorsport and its historical rally.”
