It’s sometimes difficult to understand The Pokémon Company today. First presents and launches an unexpected epilogue for downloadable content Pokémon Scarlet / Violet, which would presumably close the entire story of the game. This is a short episode featuring the protagonist’s Paldean friends, which serves as an excuse to release a new Pokémon and boost sales of the two-part DLC.
This new Pokémon is They sinned, who uses his poisonous abilities to confuse the inhabitants of Villa Mersui (Mossui Town) in Kitakami. We have battles and the possibility of capturing this unique Pokémon. However, the epilogue doesn’t do much to clarify the history of this particular Pokémon. Only with this new video do we learn of his relationship with the trio of Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti, as well as Ogerpon. All seen and captured in The Teal Mask.
First of all, it’s nice to have this “prologue to the epilogue” dubbed in Latin Spanish. Hopefully soon the games Pokémon give them some voice because they are quite quiet. Now, that of Pecharunt is an important story that confirms the inspiration of the Kitakami events in the traditional japanese story Momotaro, the peach boy. In the version Pokémon The role of the ‘loyal trio’ changes from heroes to villains and – according to this new video – back to misunderstood heroes. Basically everything is Pecharunt’s fault. Ogerpon’s position is also doubtful, since he had already been cleared of guilt.
It is a good explanation that Pecharunt was the one who shared his powers with Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti, whose misunderstanding with the masks led to Ogerpon’s attack and hence the story told in The Teal Mask. In contrast, it is absurd that this same untold story of Pecharunt is not told to us in the same game, in the epilogue, by Arceus! Although Pokémon is a transmedia franchise, players should be able to come full circle in Scarlet / Violet. That’s what epilogues are about, right?
