TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Politician Maruarar Sirait declared his resignation from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) today, Monday, January 15, 2024.
“And after I prayed and discussed with the people closest to me, my closest friends, I decided to leave PDI Perjuangan today,” said Maruarar, when met in front of the PDIP DPP Office, Jalan Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, Monday evening, January 15 2024 .
Maruarar said he was grateful to DPIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and party officials. “Because all this time it has allowed me to serve through PDIP,” said Maruarar.
Muruar gave an explanation about ending his political career at PDIP while he was in the car. To journalists, he admitted that he had met Utut Adianto, Deputy Secretary General of PDIP and other politicians, such as Rudianto Tjen.
He admitted that the decision to resign from the party bearing the bull symbol had been through discussions with internal party people. “I pray that PDI Perjuangan remains a big party that fights for Pancasila, fights for truth, fights for justice,” he said.

Maruarar did not answer which party he would join after leaving PDIP. However, he said he would join following President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
“And I chose to follow Pak Jokowi’s steps because I believe Pak Jokowi is a leader who is highly supported by the Indonesian people and his public trust,” said Ara, Maruarar’s nickname.
Muruarar arrived at around 18.19 WIB at the PDIP DPP. Ara visited the PDIP office in his black car. He left PDIP headquarters at around 19.15 WIB. He just shook his hand when asked what party he would join.
