Purwokerto (ANTARA) – Head of the Banyumas Regency Health Service (Dinkes) Widyana Grehastuti said that the Polio National Immunization Sub-Week (PIN) activities in the region targeted 197,527 children aged 0-7 years 11 months 29 days.
In his statement in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, Monday, Widyana said that the Polio Sub PIN activity was carried out in two rounds, namely the first round on January 15-24 and the second round on February 19-25 2024.
Every round, he said, would be done sweeping for five days after the Sub PIN activity to screen children who have not undergone polio immunization.
“This Sub PIN Polio was implemented simultaneously following the discovery of cases of acute paralysis in Klaten Regency and several other areas,” he said.

He hopes that with the Polio Sub PIN, children will have better immunity considering that the virus is a mutation. His party remains vigilant against disease mutations that are transmitted through water and food contaminated with feces containing the polio virus.
“In Banyumas there have been no cases of polio, but this activity is in response to the discovery of cases of acute paralysis in Klaten. We hope that with this immunization in Banyumas there will be no cases of polio,” he said.
Therefore, he said, in implementing the Polio Sub PIN, children will receive the novel Oral Polio Vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) immunization regardless of their immunization status.
