According to the German publication Bild, the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) is preparing for a hybrid Russian attack on NATO’s eastern flank in February this year.

Details: The publication notes that according to the document, escalation between NATO and Russia could occur as early as February of this year.
In a secret document (“Classified Information – For Official Use Only”), the German Ministry of Defense sets out in detail a possible “Path to Conflict” between Russia and NATO. The actions of Russia and the West are chronicled month after month, culminating in the deployment of hundreds of thousands of NATO troops and the inevitable outbreak of war in the summer of 2025.
BILD describes the scenario from the document, but for security reasons does not reflect all information about the number and movements of NATO troops.
The Bundeswehr scenario “Alliance Defense 2025” starts in February 2024. Russia is launching another wave of mobilization and calling up an additional 200 thousand people into the army. The Kremlin then launches its spring offensive in Ukraine, which pushes the Ukrainian army back by June.
First covert and then increasingly overt, Russia’s attack on the West begins in July. Cyber attacks and other forms of hybrid warfare are expected, mainly in the Baltic countries. Clashes occur, which Russia uses as a reason to launch large-scale exercises on its territory and in Belarus.
An aggravation of this situation, according to the scenario, may occur in October if Russia transfers troops and medium-range missiles to Kaliningrad. Since December 2024, an artificially caused “border conflict” and “unrest with numerous casualties” have been taking place in the area of the “Suwalki Corridor.”
At a time when the United States may be leaderless for weeks after the election, Russia, backed by Belarus, is repeating its 2014 invasion of Ukraine on NATO soil. In May 2025, NATO decides on containment measures; on “Day X,” NATO transfers 300,000 troops, including 30,000 Bundeswehr soldiers, to the eastern flank.
The scenario ends 30 days after “day X”. Whether Russia will be restrained by NATO remains an open question in the scenario.
Let us remind you: In December it was reported that the West is increasingly thinking that Russia could win the war, and Ukraine could lose additional territories and even its sovereignty, then NATO would be defeated, and the consequences would be felt throughout the world.
