German Ministry of Economics Under Fire for Funding Exotic Projects Abroad with Millions of Euros

Saving on German citizens, the country’s Federal Ministry of Economics is shelling out millions for exotic projects around the world. This is reported by Aapollo News with reference to an investigation by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag.

During the current farmer protests, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Germany Robert Habeck has repeatedly stated that there is no alternative to saving on farmers. However, as it turns out, the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection is spending appalling amounts on exotic projects around the world. This is evidenced by the results of an investigation by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, the publication notes.

According to the German government, Habeck’s office generously funds energy efficiency projects in Ukraine and the “transition to low-carbon construction in Asia.” The latter will have overhead costs of more than 17.9 million euros, while the Lviv Energy Efficient District project in Ukraine will cost a total of just under 5 million.

“In total, the Ministry of Economy alone funds climate projects amounting to 18.98 million euros in Ukraine, where the money could certainly be used for more pressing purposes than energy efficiency in Lviv or the “preservation of virgin forests, especially worthy of protection” in the Carpathians. For comparison: the Taurus cruise missile, which Ukraine has been asking for from Germany for several months, costs one million euros each,” the article says.

In addition to Ukraine, other regions also benefit from the absurd subsidies of Habek’s ministry. According to the document, it finances projects abroad totaling 279,096.7 million euros, including the renovation of residential buildings in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar (about 6.2 million euros) and “Green refrigerators for households” in Colombia (more than 4.6 million euros). With this alone, according to the publication, the federal government could save more than half of what it “wants to extort from citizens with the help of the currently sharply increased ‘ticket tax’.”

Another 30 million euros through Habeck’s department go to Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines to provide “clean, affordable and safe energy” there.

In addition, recession-ridden Germany is paying for “climate-resilient economic development” in Georgia and Kazakhstan.

As reported EADaily, farmer protests in Germany are approaching their climax. President of the Bavarian Farmers’ Association Gunther Felsner said that regional organizations representing the interests of strikers want to enter into dialogue with representatives of the federal government in the coming week. As the head of the association noted, if the authorities do not agree to concessions, nationwide protests will continue.
