During its meeting this evening, the House of Representatives’ Suggestions and Complaints Committee discussed a proposal submitted by Representative Amal Salama. Regarding the establishment of specialized clinics in family medicine units and centers; To provide guidance and psychological support to patients suffering from mental health problems; Especially women and the elderly; And young people in their teenage years to maintain the cohesion of the family, which is the main nucleus of society.
Representative Amal Salama reviewed the proposal with interest, and said that the health system during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed great development, with the aim of providing comprehensive health care to all Egyptians in accordance with the latest international standards, as the efficiency of health facilities was raised and medical services provided to citizens were improved.
She added that Egypt has about 5,500 family medicine units and centers, spread across cities, villages and hamlets, and due to their close proximity to citizens’ places of residence, they represent the first point of contact between the patient and medical care providers, as family medicine units and centers provide medical services to citizens from the age of birth. Until old age, and this is what prompted the Ministry of Health to extend its working hours from eight in the morning until eight in the evening, and establish specialized clinics and provide emergency services, and services for pregnant mother care and various vaccinations for children, starting from newborns, and even during the school stages, in addition to To vaccination campaigns against epidemic and endemic diseases.
Representative Amal Salama explained that, given the strong demand by citizens for family medicine units and centers as a result of the high prices for “examination in private clinics and the expensive cost of treatment,” she proposes
Establishing specialized clinics staffed by doctors specializing in mental health to provide guidance and psychological support to patients suffering from mental health problems, especially women, to maintain the cohesion of the family, which represents the nucleus of society, and also the elderly who have a right to the state to care for them and protect them from mental illnesses, as well as Concerning the mental health of adolescents, and advising them of the need to stay away from bad friends, and not to smoke or become addicted to drugs and other societal harms.
