There are three groups of the population in Russia, the majority of whom do not feel sympathy when they die at the front. They are prisoners, national minorities living in poor regions far from Moscow and young citizens. While these three groups are fighting and dying in Ukraine, Putin can create an illusion of the rest of the norm,” she said.
According to Romanova, female inmates are increasingly being recruited in Russian prisons. Currently, approximately 1,000 Russian women are fighting in Ukraine.
