In 2006, Hannah Herzsprung celebrated her cinema debut in the film “Four Minutes”. Almost two decades later appears with “15 years” a continuation of the musical drama. The actress once again takes on the role of the film character Jenny. For the film’s release, FluxFM editor Ron Stoklas not only provides you with a review, but also a conversation with the actress Hannah Herzsprung.
Jenny von Loeben (Hannah Herzsprung) spent 15 years in prison after being convicted of murder. An act she didn’t commit. After her release from prison, Jenny’s focus is on rehabilitation. Not an easy task. Jenny is a broken person. The guilt that was falsely attributed to her took away her joy in life. Although the talented woman still has a love for music, the evil spirits of her past do not allow her to fully enjoy this love. Instead of a quiet new beginning, Jenny’s desire for revenge arises. Feelings that endanger their lives and the new people at their side.
In “15 Years” director Chris Kraus tells the story of a woman from whom everything was taken. The film is carried primarily by Hannah Herzsprung’s acting performance. The 43-year-old once again portrays Jenny, who is driven by a desire for revenge, and takes us on an emotional journey in search of forgiveness and justice. Hannah Herzsprung outshines the film. Unfortunately, the story itself often seems too deliberate and, above all, overloaded. Fewer sideshows, more focus on Jenny and her internal struggle would have benefited the film. So it’s worth going to the cinema because of Hannah Herzsprung and her powerful performance.
