In 2023, the Indian flag went to the moon and reached the sun. What is planned for 2024? According to the Indian Express website, landing on the moon in 2023 was the biggest achievement for Indian science, transcending limits on earth and in the sky. What are the main plans for 2024?

While the 2023 moon landing was a major breakthrough for Indian science, the year saw a clear shift in India’s space programme. From an organization with advanced capabilities in launching and putting satellites into orbit, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has taken great strides towards becoming a full-fledged planetary exploration organisation.

This has been one of the most productive years for ISRO, with seven successful missions including India’s first mission to the Sun, Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1, two high-profile missions.

This year capped a relatively lean run for the space agency after the Covid pandemic, which appears to have severely disrupted its schedule, even affecting Kaganian, a crewed space mission originally scheduled for 2022; Kajanyan is now scheduled to take place in 2025, with several preparatory tests still pending.
