This site revealed yesterday that Maxime Meiland (28) has reported rape. It concerns an event that happened about thirteen years ago.
The riot started with Maxime’s biography ‘Maxime Abused, derailed and now… happy’ in which she says, among other things, that she was raped at the age of 15 by a now 28-year-old man, whom she does not mention by name. That man was identified anonymously, but still became furious about the allegation and hired lawyer Peter Schouten to demand a correction and to report defamation and slander.
‘A serious crime’
Meiland did not initially respond, but on Friday she went to the police to report the matter. She did this in response to all the man’s allegations. He now responds again with the declaration of filing a false declaration. “A serious crime,” according to Schouten
Schouten also names ‘the other woman’ who, according to Meiland – as stated in her book – was abused by the same man. According to him, that is also false and, according to Schouten, that allegation must also be corrected. In the meantime, Meiland and her lawyer Sébas Diekstra are sure that the woman is also prepared to make a statement to the police. It is unclear whether she would also like to press charges.
On February 16, the case of Schouten and his client against Meiland, the writer of her biography Jan Dijkgraaf and the publisher. They demand that the book be withdrawn from the market and compensation. Schouten does not want to say how high that compensation should be. “But it concerns damage suffered that can be substantiated with documentary evidence and we have that documentary evidence.”
