New Jersey Transit Train Service to New York Suspended Due to System Failure

The New Jersey Transit Department reported that train service is suspended on trips to New York due to a system failure.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Amtrak confirmed that train service between Philadelphia and New York was suspended.

Transit authorities reported that the failure was due to problems in communication with the trains.

This caused the suspension of service to and from Penn Station.

This affects the entire northeast corridor rail service with significant delays.

NJ Transit detailed that the Bay Head ferries will continue to operate while Midtown Direct service will be diverted to Hoboken.

It was not reported when the service will resume.

Authorities asked to stay abreast of updates on their Official site.

A day after the incident, and after service had resumed, the trains were operating slowly due to repair work on the tracks, where it is believed that the damage that caused the derailment could have been.

Although it is believed that the incident occurred due to a problem or damage to the rails, the MTA doubts that it was due to lack of maintenance. “We did an inspection in November,” said Richard Davey, president of NYC Transit.
