Bethesda says Starfield’s “biggest update yet” will be released on Wednesday, January 17, with more than 100 “fixes and improvements,” including graphical tweaks for the role-playing game.
The studio announced the upcoming update on Twitter after publishing a 2023 review that promised a big round of improvements coming to the game in 2024. The update will appear in the Steam beta on January 17, and the full release for all players will take place two weeks later (assuming everything goes according to plan)
Bethesda shared “some details about what you can expect,” although full patch notes have yet to be released. Specific details about these 100 fixes and improvements are not yet known, but we do know some of the major changes.
For starters, a lot of quests will be fixed. What’s even more interesting is that this huge update promises “stability improvements and numerous graphical enhancements”, some of which seem aimed at fixing the RPG’s biggest pain points. Bethesda offered before and after screenshots of NPCs
Likewise, “solar disk geometry” and “planetary ring shadows” have been improved to enhance void views. Other fixes include another attempt to eliminate “asteroids chasing ships” like small pets, as well as “inaccessible ship hatches.” Overall, this is a promising and potentially quite a beautiful start to 2024 for Starfield.
