One of Europe’s leading politicians told how former US President Donald Trump privately warned that America would not come to the aid of the European Union if it was attacked militarily, Politico writes.

“You have to understand that if Europe is attacked, we will never come to your aid,” said Donald Trump to European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen at the 2020 World Economic Forum in Davos.
“By the way, NATO is dead and we’re going to leave, we’re going to withdraw from NATO,” French European Commissioner Thierry Breton recounted Donald Trump as saying.

Thierry Breton shared the situation Tuesday at an event at the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels, just days before the Republican Party’s Jan. 15 caucus in Iowa, the opening event in Trump’s bid to win Republican votes to return to the White House.
Brussels is gripped with fear over the possibility of Trump returning to the US presidency.
