Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in one day, Ukrainian air defenses shot down 12 Russian planes and 26 helicopters, Ukrainian media reported.
He said this at a press conference in Riga. Zelensky was on an overseas tour to urge his Western partners to continue their military aid to Kiev. The president did not reveal what system was used to shoot down the enemy machines, but indicated only that it was a question of Western weapons.
His claims have not been confirmed by independent sources. Zelensky said that the delay in military aid has a direct impact on what is happening on the front, and only the Russian aggressor benefits from it.
Zelensky said that by using long-range weapons, Ukraine is not attacking, but defending itself against the Russian terror that continues every day against the Ukrainian population.
According to Kiev, since the beginning of the invasion, 329 Russian fighter jets have been shot down on Ukrainian soil, as well as 324 helicopters. Russian casualties, according to Kiev, are 369,000.
