Many years ago, Apple introduced the option of enhancing iMessage with mini apps and thus having direct access to the functionalities of other services. YouTube also offered such an app.
Latest YouTube update removes app
At 9to5mac found that the latest version of the YouTube app, currently distributed through the App Store, removes this mini version of the service from iMessage. However, there is no mention of this in the release notes. Previously, you could use the app to search for YouTube videos directly from the chat and send them to your counterpart.
There is currently no confirmation from YouTube. However, it is unlikely that the iMessage app was accidentally removed from the version.
