The Japan Meteorological Agency announced the forecast for the next month on the 11th. Although this is the time of the year when the coldest temperatures hit, we are unlikely to be affected by cold air in the future, and temperatures across the country tend to be higher than normal. This is the time when a low pressure system passes through the south of Kanto or strong cold air moves southward, making it easier to snow.
On the 13th (Saturday), when the winter weather will become more intense, heavy snow is predicted to occur not only from Hokuriku to the Sea of Japan coast to the north, but also from northern Kanto, Yamanashi Prefecture, and Nagano Prefecture. The common university entrance test will be held on the weekend, but if you are in an area where snow is forecast, please pay attention to traffic information and allow plenty of time for your trip.
In the Hokuriku region, which was affected by the 2020 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, precipitation and sunshine hours are expected to be on par with normal years, and snowfall is expected to be less than normal over the next month.
According to the near-term forecast, there is a possibility of “warning-level heavy rain” in Ishikawa Prefecture tomorrow, the 12th (Friday), and then it will turn into snow and become heavier on the 13th (Saturday). Snow is expected to continue falling from the 15th (Monday) to the 16th (Tuesday) at the beginning of the week, and the wind is expected to become stronger, raising the risk of increased snowfall in the affected areas.
