The Joint Syuriah and Tanfidziyah Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board appointed the grandson of NU Founder Hadratussyaikh KH Hasyim Asy’ari, namely KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz (Gus Kikin) as the new captain of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Management.
“Thank God, the joint meeting this afternoon unanimously appointed Gus Kikin as Acting (Acting) Chair of the East Java PWNU to replace KH Marzuki Mustamar,” said PBNU Secretary General Gus Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) in a written statement received by NU Online, Wednesday (10/1/2024) .
Gus Kikin will serve until the East Java NU Regional Conference (Konferwil) is held which is planned to be held in March 2024.
KH Marzuki Mustamar’s term of office actually expired in September 2023 and then received a temporary extension decree from PBNU.
The joint meeting chaired directly by Rais ‘Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar was also attended by the General Chair of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf as well as the syariah and tanfidziyah ranks and unanimously accepted the dismissal of Kiai Marzuki and the appointment of Gus Kikin.
“Regarding the reason for KH Marzuki’s dismissal, I once again emphasize that this is an internal matter and has been deemed to meet the requirements for dismissal. “Don’t force us to reveal the reasons to the public,” said Gus Ipul.
Gus Ipul emphasized that the dismissal of KH Marzuki Mustamar was a proposal from Rais Syuriah PWNU East Java which was signed directly by KH Anwar Manshur.
“The chairman of PWNU was actually dismissed this is not the first time this has happened. In East Java, KH Ali Maskan Moesa was also dismissed from his position as Chairman of PWNU. “However, at that time KH Ali Maskan accepted and even today he is still active in the East Java PWNU Syuriah ranks,” explained Gus Ipul.
He said that Gus Kikin was appointed for several reasons. Firstly, because Gus Kikin has experience, even currently serving as one of the Chairmen of PBNU.
“Moreover, he is currently also the caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School and also Hadratussyekh’s grandson, God willing, he will be able to carry out leadership of the organization in this transition period,” said Gus Ipul.
Meanwhile, a joint meeting was held at the PBNU Office, Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Jakarta with several agendas. The meeting took place at 14.00-16.00 WIB.
