Emmanuel Macron appoints Gabriel Attal as new Prime Minister to revitalize France

Engulfed in internal struggles and partisan wars that paralyze the country, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, opted this Tuesday for the young and popular Gabriel Attal to lead his government, with the express mandate of removing the country from paralysis and relaunching the reforms he considers necessary.

Eager to give new impetus to his mandate, a year and a half after his re-election and after having carried out with great difficulty unpopular reforms such as pensions or the immigration law, Macron is looking for new breath.

And he puts it in the hands of a young politician with a meteoric career, who, at 34 years old, becomes the youngest to lead the Government, just eight after having begun his political career.

He replaces Élisabeth Borne, after resigning yesterday, with a more technical profile, more surly in communication than the young Attal, with whom he shares a socialist origin and liberal creed.

“I count on your energy and your commitment to carry out the revitalization and regeneration project,” Macron said today, highlighting “the fidelity,” the “capacity for improvement and the audacity” of the new prime minister.

METEOR CAREER
Attal is a pure fruit of Macronism, which he embraced after abandoning ten years of socialist militancy in 2016 to become spokesperson for the presidential election campaign of what was then a promising candidate without a party, willing to break the division between left and right.

Under the guidance of Macron, he entered Parliament at the age of 28, and at 29 he became the youngest member of a French government as Secretary of State for Education and Youth.
