Canadian hockey forward Stephen Harper has agreed with the club HK Nitra to end the cooperation early and is heading to the Czech extra league.
“He took the offer from the Czech Republic as the opportunity of his life,” stated the president of HK Nitra Miroslav Kováčik for the club page.
Harper came to Nitra at the end of September 2023. In 28 games, he collected 30 Canadian points (14+16) and added 24 penalty minutes and 13 plus points to his statistics.
“Despite the valid contract with our club, we finally decided to release Stephen and allow him to transfer to the Czech competition. We came to this decision after mature consideration. We have agreed on the conditions of release with his new club. He will work in a top Czech club with a rich history .
His departure does not change our high ambitions in the ongoing season. We took it as a positive opportunity to make minor changes in the team and after completing the squad we want to come out as a stronger team. I believe that we will be able to bring our “developed things” to a successful end. We wish Stephen all the best in his new position and thank him for his services to our club.” said Kováčik.
