MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Atalanta wins against Milan 2-1 thanks to a brace from Koopmeiners and flies to the semi-final of the Italian Cup, the Nerazzurri will challenge Fiorentina. The performance in the second half was decisive, the Bergamo team reached the fourth semi-final under Gasperini’s management. The hosts deployed the usual 4-2-3-1 with the central pair Gabbia-Hernandez in front of Maignan, the attack was instead entrusted to Luka Jovic. However, the two doubts of the Orobic team were resolved, with Kolasinac on the three-man defense line and De Ketelaere making up the trident together with Miranchuk and Koopmeiners. In the first half hour the Bergamo team preferred to wait, the Rossoneri instead managed the ball of the game looking for the right opening: in the 19th minute, on a restart, Carnesecchi defused a central conclusion from Musah. In the 31st minute Atalanta created the first chance of the match, but Holm was unable to hit the cross that came from De Ketelaere himself with the right turns. A few minutes later the guests claimed a penalty for a push by Reijnders on De Roon, who was practically free to hit the net: Gasperini, a few minutes later, was sent off for protesting. At the end of the first half, Milan found the opening goal thanks to a fast move orchestrated in the left-handed lane by the Leao-Hernandez duo, with the Portuguese’s shot at the far post being decisive. The reaction was immediate, the equalizer came thanks to Koopmeiners’ first-time shot following an assist from Holm. The Nerazzurri entered the field in the second half with a different attitude, in the 14th minute Miranchuk earned a penalty (for a foul by Jimenez) converted again by Koopmeiners. The Bergamo players did not take advantage of the various opportunities to close out the match – first Miranchuk’s curling shot went out for a matter of centimeters, then Ederson’s shot deflected by Musah -, Milan instead tried with a long-range shot by Pulisic deflected cornered by Carnesecchi. The final effort from Pioli’s men was not enough to avoid defeat, Atalanta beat the San Siro and flew to the semi-finals.
