Wuelfrath. Mayor Rainer Ritsche and Treasurer Sebastian Schorn share the positive news that the city of Wülfrath’s short-term net debt fell significantly at the end of 2023, despite significant additional burdens caused by the war in Ukraine.
The main reason is the additional income from trade tax, which was partially offset by, among other things, increased interest rates and an increasing district levy. The liquidity loans taken out amounted to around 38.4 million euros. In contrast, there were bank balances of 2.5 million euros.
The short-term net debt as of December 31st was around 35.9 million euros. In the previous year this value was 37.8 million euros. The loans taken out for investments were reduced by 1.5 million euros from 37.4 million euros to 35.9 million euros.
Overall, the city’s total net debt was reduced by 3.4 to 71.8 million euros.
