Frenchy Comedy Club: French-Speaking Comedians Conquer America with Second Edition in New York on January 19, 2024

Our French-speaking comedians are now crossing borders and are ready to conquer America. The Frenchy Comedy Club is celebrating its second edition in New York, on January 19, 2024. “It’s a dream for many comedians to play in New York,” confirms Coline Carteau, founder of the event.

The Frenchy Comedy Club is celebrating its big return to New York for a second edition after the success of the first edition in 2022. Eight comedians from the French-speaking world with distinct humor are there. These stage beasts arrive in New York, a city that makes the whole world dream, the Mecca of stand-up: “it’s a dream for many comedians to perform in New York”, underlines Coline Carteau, creator of the Frenchy Comedy Club. Get ready to laugh out loud with the Canadians Virginie Fortin and Mike Ward, the Belgians Sérine Ayari and Alex Vizorek, the French Youssoupha Diaby, Redouane Behache and Samia Orosemane as well as with the most French of the British, Paul Taylor at the head of poster.

French-speaking comedians for a diverse audience

In order to reach as many spectators as possible and have the most diverse audience possible, the French Comedy Club recruited these comedians from the four corners of the French-speaking world. Coline Carteau explains it to us: “Thanks to these actors who shine throughout the French-speaking world, Belgians, Swiss, French and even Quebecers, the idea is really to bring a very international and French-speaking dimension to the project.”.

The comedians chosen are also well known to the general public thanks to their visibility on social networks and also in more traditional media. Alex Vizorek thus presented the Molières ceremony in 2022. This is also the case of Paul Taylor, the British comedian expatriated in France, who was spotted when he worked with Canal+ with his series What’s up France et What The Fuck France and who is now a real star in France: “today, Paul is a comedian who fills Zénith or legendary venues like the Grand Rex during his show in 2021”.

But who is the audience for these French-speaking comedy evenings in New York? Many stand-up enthusiasts, but also curious expatriates: “ We realize that expatriates, if they have been in the country for several years, do not necessarily know French-speaking artists. This is why we try to take artists who have broken through more recently and who also come from other French-speaking countries.”. French expatriates are not the only members of the public at the comedy club. More and more Francophile Americans, invited by their French friends or those studying French, are attending the shows.

Frenchy Comedy Club, conquering America!

For French people who live outside New York, don’t panic. The Frenchy Comedy Club plans to extend its concept to other American cities, such as New Orleans and Miami. But the objective from the next edition would be to expand into cities around New York: “We want to set up a sort of triangle around New York, with the cities of Washington, Philadelphia and Boston, by taking comedians on a road trip”. While waiting to hit the road, meet on January 19 in the heart of Times Square for a moment of laughter and sharing.
