Argentine pilot Manuel Andújar claims victory in the 2024 Dakar Rally quad category

The Argentine pilot Manuel Andújar (Yahama) became the new leader of the quad category of the 2024 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia this Tuesday with his victory in the fourth stage that had an extension of 631 kilometers (299 timed) between the town of Al Salamiya and the city of Al Hofuf.

The rider of the 7240 Team Dragon Rally Service delayed by just 32 seconds the two-time title champion of the specialty, the Frenchman Alexandre Giroud (Yamaha Racing), who qualified second.

Andújar, crowned in the 2021 Dakar, set a time of 3 hours, 35 minutes, 6 seconds that put him in front of the podium, completed by the Brazilian Marcelo Medeiros (+10m.36s.), dominator of the test in the first two days.

The Slovakian Juraj Varga, leader after Monday’s day, paid dearly for a stoppage at kilometer 238 and gave up the lead in the hands of the Argentine, who took the victory with a brave defense against Giroud.

In the general classification of quadricycles, the Lobos pilot leads with a good margin over his main pursuers. Shooting guard Giroud is at +21m.24s.; Medeiros, third at +24m.07s. and Varga, now fourth, with a difference of 46m.14s.

«I try to advance day by day and I am happy to be here. It was a hard day, with a lot of sailing and very fast, but I was able to fight with Alexandre throughout the stage. “What matters is the day to day,” the Argentine cautiously analyzed, after completing his best segment in the 2024 edition.
