Russian oppositionist Gennady Gudkov explained why the deep split within the Russian elite has not yet become open.

The theory about Vasilich, who rules Russia, is very well accepted by society and is not suppressed by the authorities. This suggests that within the elite, such a game is beneficial to someone.
This opinion expressed ex-deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Gennady Gudkov for the YouTube channel “Now”.
“I strongly doubt that this game is beneficial to Putin himself. To hear that Vasilich went out in public, but you are in the refrigerator and cannot participate in meetings because they are “unfreezing” you for too long.”, such a pleasure. Well, there were all sorts of jokes on this topic, gags and conspiracy theories. I think that this just indicates a deep split within the elites,” – noted the expert.
According to Gudkov, this split has not yet become open only because of the relatively stable position of Russian troops on the fronts.
“That is, people surroundedand Putin is simply waiting to see what will happen next: where the world will go, what the United States will do, what decision Europe will make. And if some of the elites feel that things will be bad, then this conflict will begin to grow. In fact, now everything is determined by the situation at the front and the level of the West’s determination to support Ukraine,” – the oppositionist summed up.
