New Hyundai Creta Model With Major Redesign to Debut in India

The premiere of the “other” modernized crossover will take place in a week. The debut market for such a five-door will be India; later, the Brazilian cross is expected to receive similar changes.

In the countries of Southeast Asia and the Middle East, as well as in some Latin American markets, the updated Hyundai Creta SUV with a Tucson-like appearance has long been sold. In India, the modernized SUV is just getting ready for its premiere, and there the Creta has undergone an alternative restyling. The first teasers were posted online a few days ago, and now fresh branded images have appeared, showing the cross in full height.

The Indian SUV has changed much more seriously than the global one, and it has a more brutal appearance – in the style of the fresh Hyundai Exter and Santa Fe. This Creta received a new radiator grille with massive “plates” and impressive bumpers; The diode running lights are made L-shaped, plus they are united by a luminous strip. Finally, the crossover has acquired different rear lights – they are now located on a black plate (on the Creta, intended for other countries, the feed remained the same after restyling).

The interior of the “world” Creta was not redesigned, but the crossover for India has a new one, inside there is a different front panel, the touch screen of the multimedia system was combined with a virtual tidy (the instruments lost the visor), which is why the central air vents had to be moved lower (in the pre-reform Creta they go on top of a separate multimedia tablet). By the way, in the previously published pictures of the interior there was another touch panel, which apparently controlled the “climate” and other functions. However, in the latest images, the Indian Creta has the usual climate control unit with washers: it is possible that this is a simpler configuration.

According to preliminary data, the list of equipment for the model intended for India has also been supplemented with all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and lane-keeping systems. The SUV’s arsenal also includes ventilation of the front seats and a panoramic sunroof.

The main technical update is a 1.5 T-GDI petrol turbo four with a power of 160 hp. (the same engine is in the range of the locally restyled Kia Seltos), the engine is combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. As before, in India, the Hyundai Creta can still be purchased with a naturally aspirated 1.5 MPI (115 hp) and a 1.5 CRDi diesel engine (116 hp): both engines are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, the petrol one also has a CVT, and the diesel one is equipped with classic six-speed automatic. The Indian Creta only comes with front-wheel drive.

Local dealers are already accepting orders for the transformed SUV, although the presentation is scheduled only for January 16, at which time prices will be announced. Let us remind you that in India the Creta also has a three-row version, but this cross is considered a separate model with the name Alcazar: the extended SUV will be updated later.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta with a brutal design is also expected in Brazil – most likely, the crossover will be modernized there during this year.
