Five people were injured during the collapse of a crane, north of Manhattan, in a construction zone between 207th Street and Ninth Avenue, in Inwood.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
Our reporter Víctor Javier Solano, from Univision 41, went to the site of the collapse and confirmed that it was a mobile crane, that is, supported by a truck.
The collapse occurred just when the truck was unloading wood with a press.
The construction workers themselves, along with an emergency team, removed the materials to try to rescue the injured. According to authorities, two of the victims have serious injuries, but neither is in danger.
The causes of the collapse remain under investigation. However, weather conditions, especially wind, could have played a role in the incident.
