2024 Presidential Campaign Team Accuses Anies and Ganjar of Undermining Indonesia’s Defense Posture

Chairman of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Rosan Roeslani said presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan and presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo busy attacking and working together to bring down Indonesia’s defense posture.

This was conveyed by Rosan in response to a number of attacks and personal criticism towards presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto during the third debate in the 2024 presidential election.

“Only Pak Prabowo is trying to convey a report on our defense achievements, as well as his vision and mission for the future. Meanwhile, the 01 and 03 presidential candidates are too busy attacking and even working together to undermine and ridicule the nation’s current defense posture,” said Rosan in an official statement, Tuesday ( 9/1).

Rosan regretted that Anies and Ganjar were unable to place and carry themselves appropriately in the last debate. According to him, they attacked the purchase of used defense equipment, even mocking Prabowo’s performance.

“For example, candidate pairs 01 and 03 went back and forth in their attacks on the issue of purchasing used defense equipment, even ridiculing them with points of 5 and 11/100 on the matter. Even though defense is not only about defense equipment,” he said.

Rosan believes that the public can objectively assess the candidates’ performance yesterday. He admitted that he was proud of Prabowo’s performance, who was considered to be fiercely defending Indonesia’s defense.

“Even if he had to sacrifice himself, he was attacked, knocked down, even slandered in front of hundreds of millions of people watching,” he said.

The choice does not change

Meanwhile, the Commander of Fanta TKN Prabowo-Gibran, Arief Rosyid Hasan, believes that their voters were not influenced by the debate on the three presidential candidates last Sunday (7/1).

“So, last night’s debate didn’t have much of an impact. Because in reality the public already has a choice of presidential and vice presidential candidates,” said Arief in his statement, Tuesday (9/1).

Arief brought up Prabowo-Gibran’s electability results last December, which were superior to other candidate pairs. He also mentioned the results of the Kompas R&D survey which recorded the lowest respondent satisfaction with Prabowo in yesterday’s debate.

Kompas Research and Development released the results of a survey regarding the third presidential candidate debate yesterday. As a result, Ganjar received 79.7 percent of the votes of satisfied respondents, Anies 71.4 percent, while Prabowo only got 48.9 percent.

They also asked whether respondents’ choices would change after watching yesterday’s debate. The answer was, 77.5 percent of respondents still chose candidate pairs before the debate took place.

During the third presidential candidate debate yesterday, Prabowo was often attacked by other candidate pairs. Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan highlighted the purchase of used defense equipment by the Ministry of Defense under Prabowo’s leadership.

Anies also touched on the phenomenon of ‘insiders’ in the procurement of defense equipment and projects food estate Ministry of Defense.

Apart from that, Anies highlighted the welfare of TNI soldiers, half of whom he said did not have homes. He compared it to the land area owned by a minister in Joko Widodo’s cabinet, which reached hundreds of thousands of hectares.

Meanwhile, presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo gave Prabowo’s Ministry of Defense a 5 today. Like Anies, he also touched on the issue of purchasing used defense equipment.

AMIN National Team Spokesperson Billy David denied that Anies attacked him personally in the third debate for the 2024 presidential election. Billy assessed that all the statements made by Anies, including regarding Prabowo Subianto’s land data, were still in accordance with the specified rules and restrictions.
