President Javier Milei used his social networks to angrily deny that during his move yesterday to Quinta de Olivos he had brought his dogs. The far-right government has no shortage of problems, but when it comes to his dogs everything else seems to take a backseat.
In relation to a journalistic report, he stated that “the impunity with which they invent and operate lies is scandalous. None of my dogs are in Olivos. It would be good for journalism to dedicate a little more time to the serious problems of the country and to the need to approve the reforms to avoid the crisis we inherited and less time for private issues,” Milei wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter).
On Monday night it had emerged on a news channel that the four English mastiff dogs were already in Olivos with the president. After Milei’s denial became known, the journalist who had provided the information maintained that she had received this information from “someone who works in the President’s Spokesperson’s Office.”
The echoes of this unusual crossing continued this Tuesday morning, when in his usual press conference the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, maintained in this regard that “the only official spokesperson” was him.
He added: “What happened yesterday was a lie. I clarify it on a personal note because of course my job was put at risk, what I represent is the voice of the President, and I would like it not to happen again because the only spokesperson is me.” .
Milei moved to Olivos almost a month after taking office as president. She will reside there and also plans to work most of the time, given that she will visit the Casa Rosada only two days a week.
The delay in moving to Olivos, according to Milei’s response, was that his dogs—or his “four-legged children,” as he prefers to call them—could not accompany him in Olivos, because the conditions to accommodate them were not yet there. However, yesterday he moved and the dogs are still not in the Fifth.
The President had insisted that the move was conditional on his pets being under the same roof as him, and that for that he needed imported materials to arrive to carry out the construction of the kennels. So this Monday Milei arrived, but the whereabouts of her four dogs remain unknown.
