London, January 9 (QNA): English Premier League club Tottenham announced today its contract with German international Leipzig striker Timo Werner until the end of the season on loan.
The London club said in a statement on its official website that it had officially signed German international Timo Werner on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy in the summer.
With this move, Werner, 27 years old, will return to playing in the English Premier League, as he previously played with Chelsea between 2020 and 2022, and was crowned champion of the Champions League in 2021 at the expense of his compatriot Manchester City.
The international striker, who scored 24 goals in 57 matches with his country’s national team, hopes to get playing time in London with the ambition of participating in the 2024 European Cup in Germany, which is a bet for a player who has not participated with the German national team since March 2023.
Tottenham is suffering on the offensive level due to the absence of James Madison due to an ankle injury he suffered early last November, and the participation of captain Heung-Min Son with his country, South Korea, in the Asian Cup in Qatar.
Tottenham occupies fifth place in the English Premier League standings, and has achieved 12 victories out of a total of 20 matches, tied in three matches, and lost five times, scoring 42 goals and conceding 29 goals.
