instead of the current 15 pass structures, two will remain from spring, the county and country passes, while instead of the current 65, there will be around 20 discount types.
It was pointed out that
in the new system, those under 14 and over 65 can travel free of charge, and those between 14 and 25 can travel with a half-price ticket.
In addition, the administrative restrictions that are still valid for national passes will be removed: from March 1st, it will be possible to redeem an additional ticket for first and premium class with the national pass. County passes, on the other hand, will still not be used on InterCity trains.
It was announced that the discounted county and national passes can be used under the same conditions – mainly for holders of domestic student IDs, but the range of those entitled will also be extended to holders of travel vouchers.
At the same time as this measure, all other types of passes besides the county and national passes, such as half-monthly passes, HÉV passes, Volánbusz area passes and TramTrain passes, will also be discontinued.
They also mentioned that the “Vármegye24” and “Magyarország24” day tickets were introduced for those planning multiple trips a day. The former can be used within 24 hours according to the conditions of the county pass for the same county, the latter according to the same conditions as the national pass.
“Vármegye24” costs HUF 999, “Hungary24” costs HUF 4,999.
You can no longer get an additional discount on the low-priced day tickets, only full-price versions of both premium products will be available.
From the introduction of the new tariff system, people with disabilities and long-term patients who now pay a 90 percent discount for intercity transport can use local transport free of charge, but they can already use local transport free of charge.
Furthermore, it will not be necessary to change tickets for the blind, the hearing impaired, those who receive a higher amount of family allowance or disability support, those who study in special education institutions and institutions that employ children with special educational needs. Their companions and visitors can also travel free of charge in the cases described in the law. Those with a Hungarian identity card or a Hungarian identity card can also travel free of charge.
In the future, those with large families who have used the travel discount for large families will also benefit from the fee exemption in the future.
Disabled war veterans and war dependents, as well as people with a residence permit requesting and being recognized as refugees, asylum seekers or protected persons can still travel free of charge.
Civil servants are entitled to a 50 percent discount for an unlimited number of trips in the future – subject only to registration.
