PDI-P Chair Puan Maharani Greeted Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar after Presidential Debate, PKB Deputy Reacts Positively

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy General Chair (Waketum) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid responded positively to the steps taken by the Chair of the PDI-P DPP, Puan Maharani, who greeted the presidential candidate (capres) and vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.

This moment occurred after the debate between the two presidential candidates at Istora Senayan, Jakarta on Sunday, January 7 2024.

“Mbak Puan has always been a good person with everyone,” said Jazilul at Nasdem Tower, Gondangdia, Menteng, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/1/2024).

Then, Jazilul said, Puan had similarities with her father, Taufik Kiemas, who could be close to any group.

“Mbak Puan is like her father, Mr Taufik Kiemas. So he embraced it all. “That’s a tradition built by Mbak Puan,” said Jazilul.

Finally, Jazilul felt there was nothing strange about Puan Maharani’s gesture in greeting Anies and Muhaimin.

He then offended those who were reluctant to shake hands with other presidential candidates after the debate.

“She (Puan) shook hands with everyone, which is strange if someone doesn’t want to shake hands,” said Jazilul while laughing.

It is known that presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan and presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto did not shake hands after the second presidential debate.

The two of them had quite heated debates, especially when discussing ethics, the procurement of used main weapons systems (alutsista) equipment and Prabowo’s land ownership.

Prabowo argued that he did not greet Anies because he should have been visited. Because he is older than the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

On the other hand, Anies claimed that he had looked for Prabowo to shake hands after the debate, but did not find him.
